Lean Construction Shepherd · Greenville, SC
Two decades-plus in construction — from a plumber's helper to leading production management. I help builders build better by focusing on people, flow, and the folks with the dirty boots.

Adam Hoots has been around construction since birth — literally; his dad was a senior superintendent. He started as a plumber's helper (two summers was enough to decide "this is too hard") and a red-line architect's helper while attending the University of South Florida, then spent his career with construction management firms as a project manager, operations leader, and Lean champion.
He has been part of more than $6 billion in preconstruction and construction work across healthcare, higher education, industrial, life science, retail, and hospitality, much of it in life-science and high-tech laboratory construction with Whiting-Turner and DPR.
Today he is Director of Production Management at The Boldt Company, an adjunct professor and PhD researcher at Clemson University, founder of Construction ACHE Solutions, host of Hoots on the Ground (The Lean Builder), and co-host of the Old Dawg Leadership Podcast. He is a licensed General Contractor in South Carolina and holds AGC's CM-Lean credential.
Adam is a kidney transplant survivor and has served on community boards including the Skilled Trades Alliance, kidSney, the National Kidney Foundation, RECAB, and SC Career Kids.

Old Dawg Builder's Community
Experienced builders share the lessons, leadership, and real-world stories that shaped their careers. Co-hosted with Mike Chiles. Built by those who do. Shared for those who will.
The Lean Builder
The Lean Builder's absolutely, positively NO bullshido podcast — real talk for the men and women with the dirty boots.
The Old Dawg Builder's Community connects builders with builders to talk through the situations field leaders face every day — leadership, people, and passing hard-earned experience to the next generation.
Construction ACHE Solutions helps project teams apply lean principles to construction — "constructing people, not buildings." A licensed general contractor in South Carolina, focused on:
When you choose to donate an organ, you choose to save a life. After waiting more than a year and a half, Adam received a life-saving kidney transplant on Labor Day 2023. kidSney, Adam's nonprofit, supports kidney families and spreads the word about organ donation.
Clemson University — Adjunct Professor and PhD student (since 2022). M.S. in Construction Science & Management, Clemson (2022–2024).
Adam regularly brings field leaders into the classroom — including Old Dawg college visits teaching sessions on building high-performing construction teams.
